ZW examples, November rain

So here comes the rainy season, at least for me, so I’m posting a modified template of the great “Dave Clock” sent me some time ago by one very creative user (and available on the base templates of the widget). Basically i have removed the vertical Rect module and added AM/PM time and battery status with two more boxes. The clock text is aligned “right” so it will always and at the some point looking more nice, the battery instead is aligned “left”, same applies to the day and month name Series. Launcher is Apex with margins set to “zero”

Sadly Google decided that, starting from API 14, widgets must have margins, so, if you create an app targeting Ice Cream Sandwitch or later the widget will have some margin no matter what you try to do. Problem is that a lot of people likes to have the widget “edge to edge” and this is absolutely not possible on API 14. To fix this i backported ZW to API 13 and released it to the market again, this new version has no margin just because it must be compatible with Honeycomb as well. This will screw up some layout, i

Today’s theme is autumn and the new ZW Series feature, that come quite handy for calendars. This look has for sure some implication in terms of space and might look better on a tablet, however is nice even on the phone. I have used two widgets here, one 2×4 for the calendar and a 2×1 for the clock. In the lasts months i did not update the widget mainly because i have really no time to code, i am sorry, hope to be back soon! Anyway the latest release is a minor one and adds small things that were easy to add (like high/low temp and localized sunrise/sunset times), on top of that i have added some fix and changed the way timezone is found in order to be more kind with the web service i am using for timezone check. I’ve just released Advanced Clock Widget 0.7 on the Market. New version has a lot of changes, first of all a completely rewritten configuration screen which should be now better readable especially thanks to the new Color picker dialog. New release is out with first support for custom fonts. Widget will let you pick them from fonts avilable system wide and builtins. I will add a third party package scan in next releases to find even more fonts. Some small optimization as also been done like App list sorting and manual weather option. From release 0.6 rendering engine is changed making a lot of new things possible (glow, reflection, scaling, overlapping and more). Still there any many things ongoing, currently my priority list is: Custom areas for pro version Export / Import settings 2×1 widget and (maybe) 1×4 that

Sadly i don’t have so much time to work on ACW so i’m mainly fixing bugs right now, anyway there are many things that i want to introduce on next releases, most important ones are: Full custom text support with templates (maybe on pro release), this is though but definitely handy, it will take some time but its #1 priority Save/restore for profiles, if you are switching ROMs often, i know, it’s hard to get settings back everytime, i’m trying to find an easy way to store on SD card preferences so you can recall favorites settings anytime More templates

Minor release which fixes timezone / daylight issues (basically i changed provider). This version also adds forced update option for weather which can be useful when moving from one timezone to another. Next release should come shortly with new small features like “:” separator for clock and new providers.

I have added templates to the latest version, now user can choose between various different layouts, more will come in the next releases. I’m also working on text templates for the pro version which will very handy but, since the form is complex, it will take time. Stay tuned!
